German giants Bayern Munich face a crisis of fitness ahead of the German Super Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

Carlo Ancelotti is currently without big name signing Renato Sanches following the Portuguese’s thigh injury at Euro 2016, while the likes of Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng remain out with long-term problems.

Meanwhile, French star Franck Ribery is in a race for fitness following a groin injury, while Holger Badstuber and Xabi Alonso are currently training in isolation as they rehabilitate from their own injury woes.

Ribery and Robben,  in particular, struggled for fitness for much of last season with the pair making just 15 and 18 appearances for the club respectively.

There was some good news for Bundesliga champions, however, as the side welcomed wing Douglas Costa back into full training following the Brazil star’s muscle complaint.

In addition to the injuries, Bayern will need to take care in managing a host of player’s who have only just returned to the side following an extended break in the aftermath of Euro 2016.

The Super Cup will be played at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

Kick-off is at 20:30.
