The first phase of Euro 2016 knockout games gets underway on Saturday with Wales and Portugal seeking a place in the last eight.

The early kick-off will see Poland take on Switzerland. The Poles boast a convincing record against the Swiss having only ever tasted defeat against them on one occasion, while the most recent match between the sides ended in a 2-2 stalemate back in 2014.

Switzerland will be at full strength for the knockout tie, while Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is doubtful having suffered a knock and midfielder Bartosz Kapustka is suspended.

Switzerland and Poland both finished second in their respective groups, with the Swiss finishing runners-up to to France in Group A, while Poland trailed Group C winners Poland on goal difference alone.

The game will be played at the State Geoffroy Guichard, Sainte Etienne.

The action gets underway from 15:00.

The second fixture of the day sees Group B winners Wales take on Northern Ireland. The sides have faced-off an incredible 96 times in their history with Wales coming out on top in the majority of those clashes, having won 45 times as opposed to Ireland’s 27 victories.

Neither side has any suspension or injury concerns heading into the match, meaning both ought to be at full strength for the British derby. Wales’ Gareth Bale, meanwhile, will be eager to score and thereby surge into pole position in the race for the Golden Boot.

Wales surprisingly topped Group B ahead of the likes of England, while Northern Ireland where fortunate to qualify as a best third placed team having been bested by both Germany and Poland in Group C.

The game takes place at the Parc des Princes, Paris.

Kick-off is at 18:00.

The late fixture on the day sees Croatia take on Portugal. Croatia have looked the stronger of the sides in the competition thus far, but Portugal boast the better record when the sides have faced-off, having won all three of the sides’ fixtures to date.

Luka Modric’s fitness remains a major worry for Croatia while striker Mario Mandzukic is also a doubt for the side. Portugal, meanwhile, may have to make do without wing back Raphael Gurreiro as well as midfielder Andre Gomes.

Portugal scraped into the last 16 having drawn all three of their group stages matches, including a dramatic 3-3 comeback draw against Hungary. Croatia, meanwhile, were impressive as they finished top of Group D following victory over Spain.

The match will be played at Stade Bollaert-Delelis Lens.

The action gets underway from 21:00.
