Gareth Bale has agreed a five-year extension to his Real Madrid deal which will keep him at the club until 2021, according to a report.

Bale has developed into a key player for Los Blancos after a difficult start to his career with the Spanish Giants, often stepping up for the side when resident superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to deliver.

Ronaldo, in turn, is expected to renew his deal wth the club in September, thereby securing Real’s two highest profile players for the foreseeable future, reports Marca.

Having played a starring role for Wales in their surprise run to the Euro 2016 finals, Bale was at it again in Los Blancos’ opening game of the season as he netted twice to ensure a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad.

The star’s salary is expected to reach a figure of €10-million per season with the side, which will see the star go level with captain Sergio Ramos just behind Ronaldo as the biggest banking players at the club.

Real Madrid are next in action when they face Celta Viga at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
