Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Middlesbrough while Leicester cruised to a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners have now moved to the top of the Premier League table following their 0-0 goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite the Gunners seeing more ball possession, it was Middlesbrough who had the better chances in the early stages of the match with Alvaro Negredo and Gaston Ramirez going close inside the opening 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger’s side was struggling to carve out any opportunities at goal and lacked creativity in the middle and in the final third.

However, neither side could take advantage as the score remained goalless heading into half-time.

In the second half, the Gunners came out with the intent to score when Alexis Sanchez forced Victor Valdes into a couple fine saves in the opening 10 minutes.

With the Gunners struggling to break down the visitors, Arsene Wenger opted to introduce attacker Lucas Perez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the final 20 minutes.

Wenger’s  side went in search of the winning goal in the closing stages and spent most of the final 10 minutes in Boro’s half.

Arsenal thought they had nosed in front when Mesut Ozil had the ball in the back of the net in stoppage time, but Ozil was flagged for offside and the score remained goalless at the final whistle.

Meanwhile, defending Premier League Champions Leicester City secured their third home-league win of the season after defeating Crystal Palace 3-1 through goals by Ahmed Musa, Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs.

West Ham United defender Winston Reid fired the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time as the Hammers beat bottom club Sunderland 1-0 at Olympic Stadium.

Stoke City midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri netted a brace with two fine goals to lead his team to a comfortable 2-0 win over a struggling Hull City side at the KC Stadium.

Meanwhile, Scott Arfield’s 90th-minute winner earned Burnley a 2-1 victory over a dominant Everton side at Turf Moor.
