Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery has summed up his stint at the club under former manager Pep Guardiola by revealing his admiration for his new boss.

The former French international struggled with injury and fitness problems for a large part of Guardiola’s time at the club, as the wing made just 50 Bundesliga appearances across the Spaniard’s three seasons at the helm.

Since the arrival of Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti at the club, however, Ribery has admitted he is feeling revitalised and secure.

The player has featured in all three of his side’s pre-season friendlies thus far, managing goals in the games against Lippstatdt and Landshut respectively.

‘I feel free and I am fully motivated,’ the 33-year-old told Kicker. ‘Carlo Ancelotti is a gift for the club. Since Ancelotti has arrived, I feel more trust.

‘He’s a great coach. I need people like him, Jupp Heynckes or Ottmar Hitzfeld. I need this trust in me, to play off my strengths.’

The player emphasised trust was essential to his return to form.

‘It all depends on things like trust, respect and proximity. Then I cannot only give 100 percent – I can give 150 percent.

‘With Ancelotti we can reach something great and I’m really looking forward to the next season,’ he concluded.
