Aguero: More Argentines could retire

Argentina and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero believes more players will consider quitting international football following the retirement of superstar Lionel Messi.

The Albiceleste lost their third final in succession on Monday as they were defeated by Chile in a penalty shootout, following which Messi announced he would no longer be continuing with the national team, reports Goal.

But fellow striker Aguero has now revealed Messi is not the only Argentine contemplating retirement following yet another painful defeat.

‘There are various players who are evaluating not to continue with the national team,’ Aguero said following the loss.

‘It is the worst dressing room I’ve ever been involved in. Worse than the World Cup final in Brazil and the other Copa America.’

Aguero has revealed Messi appeared in a terrible state of mind after the defeat.

‘Once again luck has gone against us,’ Aguero added.

‘Unfortunately, the most broken one is Messi for his missed penalty. It is the worst I have ever seen him in change rooms after the game.’

Goalkeeper Sergio Romero, however, thinks Messi was overcome by emotion when he spoke.

‘I think Leo spoke heatedly, because we’ve let a good opportunity escape,’ Romero said.

‘He has the same thoughts as us,’ Romero concluded.
