Sergio Aguero starred for Manchester City as they eased to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

The Argentine striker opened the scoring at the Britannia Stadium after being awarded a penalty when Ryan Shawcross fouled Nicolas Otamendi in the penalty area. Aguero stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake to put his side ahead to opening the scoring.

Pep Guardiola’s side then double their lead in the 35th minute when Aguero completed his brace after latching onto a Kevin De Bruyne free-kick.

However, Stoke were awarded a penalty of their own in the 49th minute and forward Bojan Krkic did well to calmly guide his spot-kick into the back of the net to make it 2-1.

City had the last say as they extend their lead with a brace from Spanish international Nolito after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The 28-year-old was magical in attack for Manchester City, producing four shots at goal, all coming from inside the penalty area, with three shots on target and scoring twice.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Sergio Aguero managed to complete a total of 35 touches on the ball while winning three out of seven duels after spending 83 minutes on the field.

The Argentine international completed total of 17 out of 21 passes, with 28.6% coming from the right and defence, while 23.8% came from down the left and also created one chance in attack for his side.

Manchester City controlled the match and had the best possession (57.3%), while Stoke City could only manage 42.7% of the possession.

Meanwhile, The Blues had more shots on goal than the Potters, producing 12 chances at goal compared to 8 efforts respectively.

City will now welcome West Ham United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, August 28, while Stoke City will travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 17:00 and 16:00 respectively.
