Manchester United secured a victory over West Bromwich Albion after played out to a 2-0 win in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils got off to a good start and broke the deadlock in the fifth  minute when Jesse Lingard whipped a cross into the box before Zlatan Ibrahimovic put the ball into the back of the net.

Wayne Rooney came close to doubling his side’s lead in the 22nd minute but his volley was pushed onto the crossbar by Ben Foster.

West Brom came close to reducing the deficit to a goal when Salomon Rondon headed effort at goal went wide of the target in the 30th minute.

United should have doubled their lead just before the break but Lingard volleyed his effort over the crossbar from close range.

The visiting side then doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Ibrahimovic beat his marker before firing home into the back of the net.

West Brom struggled to carve out any clear-cut openings in the second half and failed to test United goalkeeper David de Gea between the goal.

However, Jos Mourinho’s side held on to their 2-0 lead until the final whistle as they walked away with all three points at the Hawthorns.
