Jbe’ Kruger wrapped up the Manila Masters with a Sunday round of 69 to share 10th place on 16 under par.

The 30-year-old broke 70 in all four rounds and went into Sunday tied for third place, but was unable to contend with SSP Chawrasia, who won a playoff after tying the regulation lead wth Nicholas Fung and Sam Chien.

‘I am very happy,’ said Chawrasia. ‘This is my first win outside India. I am very excited. Everyone has been telling me I have won a lot of times in India and it’s about time to win outside India. I am glad I did it this week.’

The Indian carded 66 on Sunday to set the clubhouse lead, then birdied the 18th two times in sudden death to win in the Phillipines.

‘I know every shot is crucial when you are in a playoff. So I just tried to calm myself down out there and I’m just glad I hit two brilliant second shots that got me the title,’ said Chawrasia.

Kruger had a quiet front nine that included a bogey at the second and a birdie at the eighth to turn in level-par. The slow start left him out of contention, but he retained a top-10 position by making four birdies on the back nine.

It was a solid week from the three-time Sunshine Tour winner, who missed 13 greens in regulation in his four rounds combined.
