Dustin Johnson was voted by PGA Tour members as the 2016 Player of the Year after making 21 cuts in 22 starts, including 15 top-10s in the process.

The big-hitting American won his first major, the US Open at Oakmont, along with two further PGA Tour titles.

He also won the Byron Nelson Award for Adjusted Scoring Average (69.172) and and the Arnold Palmer Award as the PGA Tour’s leading money earner, collecting an impressive $9,365,185.

Johnson edged out Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson, all eligible after playing in 15 official money events.

‘On behalf of the PGA Tour, my congratulations to Dustin Johnson for his outstanding play on big stages during the 2015-16 season,’ said Commissioner Tim Finchem. ‘His hard work on the golf course and in the gym paid off with the finest season of his career, and the member vote reflects the respect his peers have for him.’
