Joachim B. Hansen’s victory at the Joburg Open over the past weekend booked his ticket to Dubai for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in December.

The Dane claimed a two-stroke victory over South Africa’s Wilco Nienaber at Randpark Golf Club on Sunday for his maiden European Tour triumph, which helped him secure a spot for the fourth and final Rolex Series event.

The DP World Tour Championship tees off on 10 December at the Jumeirah Golf Estates where the 2020 Race to Dubai winner will be crowned.

Hansen’s victory saw him become the 13th first-time winner on Tour this season, which means the quest of being crowned Europe’s best golfer will only heat up over the next two weeks with the South African Swing heading into its second week.

American Patrick Reed still leads the standings with Englishman Tommy Fleetwood in second place.

PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa sits third in the Race to Dubai, while Hansen’s win saw him climb up to 43rd spot.

The Tour will head to the iconic Leopard Creek Country Club on Thursday where the 2020 edition of the Alfred Dunhill Championship will get under way.

That will be followed by the famous South African Open Championship, which tees off at the Gary Player Country Club next week before the players depart for Dubai.
