Former Banyana Banyana head coach Vera Pauw has been shortlisted among ten coaches for the prestigious Best Fifa Women’s Coach 2016 Award.

The 53-year-old led the South African women’s national team through the qualification and participation of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in August.

Pauw has also guided Banyana Banyana to qualify for the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Cameroon from 19 November.

However, the Dutch coach has recently parted ways with the South African women’s national team following the expiration of her contract.

Meanwhile, Pauw’s long-time assistant coach Desiree Ellis has taken over as head coach on an interim basis, with Maud Khumalo and Cheryl Botes assisting her.
