Bafana Bafana forward Eleazar Rodgers has taken the pressure of representing his country in his stride, believing it could even work to his advantage.

It has been four years since the striker was last called up for his country but following a run of good form the star may be entrusted to lead the line for his side against Burkina Faso in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

‘I think there’s always some sort of pressure that comes with scoring goals but, as a striker, it’s your role to score the goals,’ Rodgers told KickOff.

‘Trying to help Bafana score goals might also add a little bit of pressure because, like the coach has said, it has been a problem in previous years until now. Hopefully we can come up with a solution to help the team get more goals.’

The 30-year-old Bidvest Wits poacher believes that while some players struggled under pressure, others thrive.

‘Sometimes pressure is good for you. It can bring out the best in you and, we are professionals, so we need to turn that pressure into some good composure and do the business on the day,’ he added.

Rodgers then concluded by insisting his side would create opportunities to score he would do his utmost to make them count.

The clash between South Africa and Burkina Faso will take place at the Stade 4 du Aout stadium.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
