Bafana Bafana midfielder Michael Morton is confident his side can advance to the next round of the Chan qualifiers by beating Botswana in the second leg on Saturday.

The two sides are set to go head-to-head in the qualifying match which will be played at the Moruleng Stadium in the North West Province.

The Supersport United midfielder, who arrived at the camp on Monday, came in to replace teammate Teboho Mokoena who had been recalled by his club.

The 28-year-old says he is ‘extremely’ delight and proud to have been called up to the South African national team, while insisting that he is relishing the chance to don the jersey.

‘We were on holiday in Zanzibar because Supersport United had given us only ten days holidays so we went down there to get some downtime. But when the call came we were quick to change flights and head back, so its worth it,’ Morton said.

‘It’s amazing, it is always wonderful to get a call up to Bafana Bafana. I am proud again to be here. It means everything for every player to put on the South African jersey.

‘It is almost like the highlight of your career. Every time it happens, it is something you remember, it is something you will keep for the rest of your life so I am extremely happy.’

Despite missing the first leg clash, Morton is confident that Stuart Baxter’s side can advance to the next round of the competition, as they head into the second leg with a two goal lead over the Zebras.

‘The guys did very well in the first leg, we just need to wrap it up at home. We want to win the game, but proceeding to the next round is the most important thing,’ he added.

Bafana Bafana against Botswana kicks off at 15:00.
