Mamelodi Sundowns right back Thapelo Morena wants to improve certain aspects of his game in the hope of earning another call-up to Bafana Bafana.

The 25-year-old has already featured five times for the South African national team since making his debut back in March 2015 under the guidance of then coach Shakes Mashaba.

He has also recently earned a call-up to coach Stuart Baxter’s side for back-to-back fixtures in their African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles last year.

Morena is now relishing the chance to work his way back into the national teams while working to improve his decision making on the field.

‘I still have a chance to get back to Bafana. Mostly importantly, I’d like to work on my decision-making and the delivery of my crosses. That’s the main thing I am not getting well, even at Sundowns. It’s things like that, those small details, that will let you down,’ Morena told the media.

‘I am happy that I am working on it and I am positive with my improvement.

He added: ‘The thing I need to improve in my game is reading situations.

‘The two opportunities I got against Kaizer Chiefs, where one I shot hit the defender, and the other one I tried to take on Booysen and shoot, then he made a great tackle … I think situations like that are where I need to try to see situations earlier.’

The Gauteng-born right back has managed to rack up 16 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilians this season, most recently in their 2-1 defeat to Lobi Stars in their Caf Champions League Group A opener.
