Maritzburg United midfielder Deolin Mekoa believes he can take his chance for Bafana Bafana following his call-up for the Mauritania and Egypt clashes.

Having graduated from the football School of Excellence, Mekoa recently starred for the U23 side at the io Olympic Games, featuring in all three of his country’s matches.

Mekoa also helped his country lift the Cosafa Castle Cup in the build-up to Rio 2016 as South Africa topped the sides competing in the regional tournament.

‘I feel great and also honoured to be here. It’s every boy’s dream to play for the senior national team and I am grateful for the opportunity,’ Mekoa told Safa.net.

‘I am confident of doing well because being in the CosafaCup squad and playing at the Rio Olympics gave me the boost to work harder which shows hard work pays off.’

Bafana take on Mauritania in a dead rubber African Nations Cup qualifier on Friday before welcoming Egypt to the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday for the Nelson Mandela Challenge.

‘We have a very good squad and I have a lot of confidence in the guys, and also, playing at home increases our chances of winning. As for me, I also fancy my chance of playing and given a chance I will do the best I can,’ Mekoa concluded.
