The South African national team have faced Angola 12 times before, having won eight and drawing three matches, while losing just once to the 2011 Afcon runners-up.

The 19-year-old believes the changes made for the upcoming friendly won’t affect the team’s performance against the Sable Antelopes on Tuesday.

‘Yes it’s a big game against Angola but we are not worried about them because we have a good squad of players, and we showed against Guinea-Bissau what we are capable of,’ Mahlambi told Safa.net.

‘I don’t think the changes that are expected in the team will affect us much because everyone is performing so well,’ said Mahlambi.

However, Mahlambi says he is confident that Bafana Bafana can conjure up another victory over Angola if they stick to their game plan and play their normal style of football.

‘I don’t think we are under any pressure to get a positive result because we have been doing well in the last few matches – we have now gone 16 games unbeaten,’ He added.

‘While I have the utmost respect for Angola, I also believe we can do better against them than we did against Guinea-Bissau.

‘The boys are really working hard with a lot of healthy competition for places in the team, so we just need to go and play our normal football like we did in Durban and the result will come.’

Meanwhile, the quartet of Erick Mathoho, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Dean Furman and Andile Jali will be assessed at the squad’s final training session as they recover from their respective injuries.

Bafana Bafana will next take on Angola in their second international friendly match on Tuesday.

The match at the Buffalo City Stadium kicks off at 19:00.
