Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs believes Darren Keet has earned the right to be a part of the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso.

The 27-year-old was recently part of the Wits side that thrashed Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in the finals of the MTN8 at the Mbombela Stadium last week, while Josephs had to watch on from the bench.

Josephs believes that the former KV Kortrijk shot-stopper deserves to be in the Bafana Bafana set-up as he is yet to concede a goal against him this season.

‘Keet is a wonderful keeper. He played for five years in Europe. He is one of the best goalkeepers and you media, you don’t put him up,’ Josephs told KickOff.com.

‘He deserves to be in the national team and is yet to concede a goal at Wits.’

The veteran goalkeeper says he fully backs Keet to succeed t the club and will focus on what best for the Clever Boys.

‘There is no competition. We are here to help the team. He took his chance and I am here to support him,’ he added.

After the international break, Bidvest Wits will take on Ajax Cape Town in the Absa Premiership on October 26.

The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
