SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman has expressed his excitement following his return to the Bafana Bafana squad for the side’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Bafana face Gambia in Bakau in their penultimate AFCON qualifier on Saturday, needing nothing short of a miracle if they are to qualify for the tournament which will be held in Gabon in 2017.

Group M leaders Cameroon sit pretty at the top of the standings, and are a full five points clear of their Bafana chasers.

Furman, however, remains hopeful, and is simply proud to be donning the national side’s jersey, regardless of the circumstances.

‘Representing your country is the pinnacle of your career. It’s always a pleasure to be involved with Bafana Bafana,’ Furman told KickOff

‘I am delighted to be back with Bafana Bafana. Hard work never stops. I am delighted to get involved again and am hoping that we will get results in Gambia.’

The defensive midfielder believes there remains hope for the side in their qualification bid.

‘In football there is always hope, funny things have happened before. For us, as long as everything is still mathematically possible we won’t give up.’

The match is set to take place at the Independence Stadium.

The match kicks off at 19:00.
