Amajita advanced to the Cosafa Cup U20 Championship semi-final after thumping Swaziland 4-0 in their final Group B encounter on Saturday.

The South African U20 side needed only a point to advance to the last four of the competition after thrashing Mauritius 5-0 at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Monday.

South Africa got off to a good start and enjoyed a great spell of possession in the opening exchanges of the match.

Amajita eventually broke the deadlock after 37 minutes when Luke Le Roux curled his effort into the back of the net.

At the other end, Swaziland were forced to sit back and try to catch South Africa on the counter, but they failed to threaten Khulrkani Kubheka between the sticks for Amajita.

Amajita managed to hold on to their 1-0 lead over Swaziland as the game went into the half-time break.

Thabo Senong’s men picked up where they left off and doubled their lead in the 51st minute when Lyle Foster latched on to a Promise Mkhuma cross to slot the ball home.

Senong then opted to freshen up his squad by introducing Kopano Thuntsane and Mfan’fikile with 20 minutes left to play.

Mfan’fikile Philakahle Dlamini nearly extended his side’s lead even further, but the midfielder blazed his effort over the target.

However, Amajita did manage to make it 3-0 in the 83rd minute through Thabiso Monyane.

Mkhuma put the game to bed with three minutes to play when he found the back of the net from close range, 4-0.

South Africa managed to hold on to their 4-0 lead over Swaziland until the final whistle to advance to the Cosafa Cup semi-final.
