Bafana Bafana have pulled out of the Intercontinental Cup after South African Football Federation expressed it’s inability to participate in the four-nation tournament.

The Kenya national team will replace Stuart Baxter’s side as the fourth member of the upcoming four-nation Intercontinental Cup, according to the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The change was made after the AIFF received a letter from the South African Football Federation expressing their inability to participate in the tournament which kicks off at the Mumbai Football Arena on 1 June.

Besides Kenya coming from the Caf region, the tournament will also include teams from different regions, New Zealand from the Oceania region, and Chinese Taipei from the AFC region.

All the matches will be held at the Mumbai Football Arena and the AIFF intends on making the competition an annual event.

The tournament will help aid the Indian football team in their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup which is scheduled for January next year.
