Bafana Bafana has given an update on their squad ahead of their international friendly matches against Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire in the coming days.

South Africa are set to host Eswatini at the FNB Stadium on Friday before travelling to West Africa to face next year’s Africa Cup of Nations hosts Côte d’Ivoire on Tuesday

Broos continues to monitor his charges at the University of Pretoria, TUKS HPC, and has chosen to shrug off the difficulties the team has faced this week.

Several changes were made to the original roster announced by the coach last week, but the camp remains focused on the upcoming matches against Eswatini and Ivory Coast.

The initial replacement was Egypt-based Percy Tau, who could not travel due to family obligations. Tau was replaced by Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Mdantsane.

Monnapule Saleng, a forward for the Orlando Pirates, was evaluated by team doctor Thabo Maleka upon his arrival and subsequently sent home due to an acute illness. Khanyisa Mayo of Cape Town City was called up to replace him.

“The player arrived at camp and after an assessment, we sent him home to recover, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” said Dr Maleka.

Ronwen Williams, the custodian and captain of Mamelodi Sundowns, arrived in camp with an ankle injury after the club’s weekend cup final against Pirates.

He is receiving treatment in the hopes that he will be fit to play against either Eswatini or the Ivorians.

Mihlali Mayambela arrived on Tuesday, while Bongokuhle Hlongwane was the last person to arrive in camp that day. All 23 members of the squad have now reported for national duty, bringing the team’s roster to its maximum size.
