The 21-year-old superstar, who secured a move abroad at the end of the season, enjoyed a memorable 2025/26 campaign with Orlando Pirates and was duly rewarded for his outstanding performances.

Mofokeng scooped the prestigious PSL Footballer of the Season award. He was also named the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, as well as the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season.

League champions Orlando Pirates dominated the Betway Premiership categories. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was voted Betway Premiership Coach of the Season, while Sipho Chaine, Lebone Seema, Oswin Appollis and Camren Dansin claimed the Goalkeeper of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season and Goal of the Season awards, respectively.

Veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet, who retired at the end of the season, was named Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament after playing a pivotal role in Durban City’s triumphant cup run. Seluleko Mahlambi of TS Galaxy received the Most Promising Player of the Tournament award.

Mbekezeli Mbokazi, formerly of Orlando Pirates, was honoured with the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament accolade, while Tshepang Moremi (Orlando Pirates) was crowned the MTN8 Last Man Standing.

The Motsepe Foundation Championship categories were dominated by Cape Town City, with Emile Witbooi, Gabriel Armato and Mickey van der Hart picking up the Players’ Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Goalkeeper of the Season awards, respectively.

In the DStv Diski Challenge categories, Mamelodi Sundowns’ young sensation Bennet Mokoena completed a memorable season by winning both awards on offer, namely the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer awards.

Match officials were also recognised, with Eugene Mdluli and Nandipha Menze receiving the Referee of the Season and Assistant Referee of the Season awards, respectively

The PSL Footballer of the Season award will be contested by Orlando Pirates duo Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng, alongside Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena. The trio were nominated by the head coaches of the 16 Premier Division clubs.

Appollis and Mofokeng have also earned nominations in the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season category, where they are joined by their Orlando Pirates teammate Kamogelo Sebelebele. The award is voted for by players across all Betway Premiership clubs.

The nominees for the Betway Premiership Coach of the Season are Miguel Cardoso (Mamelodi Sundowns), Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef (Kaizer Chiefs), and Abdeslam Ouaddou (Orlando Pirates). Keet joined the club at the beginning of the current campaign after he parted ways with Cape Town City.

The 36-year-old has kept 14 clean sheets in 33 appearances across all competition so far this season.

Over the course of his career, Keet has managed to keep 145 clean sheets in 427 appearances in all competitions.

The veteran goalkeeper has since confirmed that he will call time on his career at the end of the season.

“Obviously it’s special,” said Keet as per Idiski.

“You know, my parents have been there, obviously throughout my whole career. My dad’s never really been one to be involved, so it’s nice for him to enjoy these moments, for them to enjoy my last trophy. And I’m hoping they enjoyed it.

“My dad cried a bit. I haven’t cried yet, but when I saw some of the players crying, then you feel like crying also.

“But happy tears at the moment and happy smiles at the moment, but very special for me to have my family and my parents and my wife and my kids just awesome, awesome experience overall.

“I’m not hinting at anything, I’m calling it quits at the end of the season. So Nedbank Cup was my first and Nedbank Cup is my last [trophy].”

The Rockets took the lead in the 43rd minute after Jean Lwamba found the back of his own net before Durban City levelled matters through Mfanafuthi Mkhize in the 58th minute.

Lwamba went from villain to hero when he found the back of the net in the 71st minute to complete Durban City’s comeback.

Durban City made history and went on to secure the win and claim their first-ever Nedbank Cup title at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane.

Durban City made their way to this stage of the competition after they beat Casric Stars 1-0 at the Chatsworth Stadium on April 4.

Galaxy, meanwhile, secured their place in the final after they claimed a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Milford FC at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on April 5.

The Nedbank Cup final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 2, with the PSL yet to confirm a kick-off time for the showpiece.
