Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende says he remains focused on giving his all during what he describes as his final year with the Brazilians.

The Chilean midfielder has been linked with a possible move away from Sundowns, but Allende insists he has not spoken to anyone and is concentrating on his football.

Allende joined the Brazilians in 2022 from MVD City Torque and has gone on to make 177 appearances, while scoring 16 goals and registering 16 assists in the process.

The Sundowns midfielder will entered into his final year of his contract, which runs until June 2027, but he has reaffirmed his commitment to the club amid speculation over his future.

“I’m focused on my last year here at the club. I haven’t spoken to anyone.

As I have said, I’m really focused, from everywhere. I need to play; I will always give my 100%.

If not, I also support my teammates because I think it is the most important thing at Sundowns so that we bring good things to the club.”

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso believes Thato Sibiya is ready to embrace the challenge that awaits him ahead of his imminent move to Ligue 1 giants LOSC Lille.

A better way of writing Sibiya has emerged as one of the promising talents in the Sundowns setup and is now set for a major step in his career by moving to Europe.

His expected switch to Lille will provide the youngster with an opportunity to test himself in one of the continent’s top leagues and continue his development at a club with a strong reputation for nurturing young talent.

Cardoso has backed Sibiya to make the most of the opportunity, insisting that the midfielder has the qualities and mentality required to handle the demands that come with playing at the highest level.

The Sundowns mentor will be hoping Sibiya can continue to develop and gain valuable experience before taking the next step in his career.

For Sibiya, the move represents an exciting new chapter and a chance to prove himself on the European stage.

With the support of Cardoso and the Sundowns environment behind him, the youngster will be determined to leave a lasting impression before beginning his journey in France.

“Regarding Thato, it’s a fantastic opportunity,” Cardoso told the media.

“As you know, I coached in France, so I know very well the club he goes to, I know very well the facilities that they have, I know very well the stability in terms of the process of developing young players.

“It’s also at the same time a very, very competitive environment that he’ll face. Obviously, I think he’s ready for the challenge.

“What will speak for him is not the level of readiness he takes, it’s the level of readiness he’s gonna still develop there.

“French football is very special, it’s a very flat football. He will have to cope with a lot of fast players, it’s a game of transition, a lot of exploitation of spaces. In some moments it can be compared to our game, but Lille is a good school of football, a team that likes to play good football.

“As much as we believe he could be an important player for the future of Sundowns, we also know he will be an important player for the future of South Africa – that’s an opportunity it’s difficult to say no.

“And the club has to protect their own rights on the situation, so we’re excited about that, we want to show him succeed. And we want to show him the character he needs, so it shows what kind of players we develop in the club.”

Ismael Saibari produced a memorable moment on his Bayern Munich debut as he came to the aid of teammate Jamal Musiala during the club’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Telekom Cup.

Musiala had just combined with Saibari to score Bayern’s third goal when the Germany international suddenly appeared disoriented and began stumbling on the pitch.

Saibari reacted quickly, rushing over to support his teammate and helping prevent him from taking a heavy fall.

Medical staff immediately came onto the pitch to attend to Musiala, who was later helped from the field.

The Allianz Arena crowd was visibly relieved when medics gave a thumbs-up, while Bayern sporting director Max Eberl subsequently reassured supporters that Musiala was okay.

The incident overshadowed what had otherwise been an impressive first appearance for Saibari.

The Moroccan midfielder, who recently joined Bayern from PSV Eindhoven, provided the assist for Musiala’s goal and played a role in a 3-1 victory that saw the Bundesliga champions finish their outing on a positive note.

With Saibari making an immediate impact on the pitch and then showing composure in a worrying moment involving his new teammate, his Bayern debut proved memorable for more than just his footballing contribution.

Kaizer Chiefs winger Langelihle Phili has described representing the Soweto giants as a huge honour and privilege after his performance against Mamelodi Sundowns.

He got off the mark for Amakhosi after scoring the opening goal in their 1-1 draw against Sundowns on Saturday.

The 21-year-old has now scored one goal in his first two Betway Premiership appearances as he looks to continue his form in front of goal.

Phili has revealed his gratitude to everyone at the club for creating an environment that has allowed him to perform at his best.

“For me to represent Kaizer Chiefs is an honour and a privilege, and being able to help the team is a testament to the people within the Club and the organisation who have welcomed me with open arms,” Phili told his club’s official website.

“They have provided me with the environment to give something back through doing my best and putting in good performances.”

“Obviously, being at such a great football institution as Kaizer Chiefs you want to play in the big games, so being able to play and score against Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champions, was huge for me, as could be seen from my celebration.”

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed that winger Devin Titus has completed a move to Moroccan giants MAS Fès on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old completed his move to the reigning Moroccan Botola Pro champions after they triggered his buy-out clause.

Titus came through the ranks at Stellies before getting promoted to the senior team during the 2020-21 season.

He spent roughly six years in the club’s senior ranks, where he scored 36 goals and registered 20 assists in 176 appearances across all competitions.

“Reigning Moroccan Botola Pro champions Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès have completed the signing of Devin Titus on a permanent transfer after triggering the buy-out clause in his contract.

“The 25-year-old forward departs as Stellenbosch FC’s most-capped outfield player of all time after featuring in 176 matches, and as the Club’s second-highest goalscorer with 36 career goals to his name across all competitions.

“A graduate of Stellies’ renowned development programme, Titus captained the reserve team to the DStv Diski Challenge and Premier League Next Gen titles in 2022, before becoming a mainstay in the first team over the last five years.

“Across the previous four seasons, he missed only one domestic league match, and helped Stellenbosch win the 2023 Carling Knockout as Player of the Tournament, reach back-to-back MTN8 finals in 2024 and 2025, and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in consecutive campaigns.

“He also became a full Bafana Bafana international during his time in the Cape Winelands and represented South Africa at the 2024 COSAFA Cup, winning three caps in total.

“During his spell with the Club, Titus embodied the ethos of Stellenbosch FC in both his performances and professionalism, setting a benchmark for those around him and serving as a beacon for the next generation of players.

“His absence on the pitch and in the dressing room will be sorely felt, but he departs with the utmost gratitude and best wishes from everyone at Stellenbosch FC as he embarks on his journey abroad.”

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised his players for responding strongly to his recent criticism after returning to winning ways.

The Buccaneers returned to winning ways following their 3-0 victory over Chippa United through goals from Ghampani Lungu, Lebone Seema and Daniel Msendami.

The win sees Pirates move up to the top of the Betway Premiership standings, with seven points after three matches.

Ouaddou has now challenged his squad to show greater consistency going forward.

“Like I told you, I think my boys gave me a great response today. You know when a father or big brother is shouting in the dressing room who knows better than me the psychology of my players,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV after the game.

“So, people talk too much to say the coach he cannot talk like that in the media, I’m expecting an answer and sometimes you need to be a little bit hard with your boys to have this kind of performance.

“We had a difficult first half, we knew it would be difficult. But to be honest, we were not panicking because at the halftime we were just spoke calmly and we make some tactical adjustments especially our front-line in order to be between the lines and intervals and we were so calm.

“And they gave me a very good answer today, now the question mark are we going to be consistent in the future, it’s my hope.”
