Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira and defender Robyn Johannes have been found guilty on various charges by the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee.
The Wits duo appeared before the PSL DC this week charged with bringing the league into disrepute and making improper statements regarding a match official during their 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.
The PSL confirmed that the Clever Boys have been fined R200 000, Johannes has been fined R100 000, while Ferreira will serve a four-match suspension.
The PSL DC have since released the following statement following their ruling:
‘The Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee has found Bidvest Wits, Robyn Johannes and Jose Ferreira guilty on various charges, including bringing the League into disrepute and making improper statements regarding a match official (referee) during their Absa Premiership fixture against Kaizer Chiefs at Bidvest Stadium on 9 January 2019.
‘Bidvest Wits were fined R200 000; suspended in its entirety for a period 24 months on condition that they are not found guilty of a similar offence.
‘Robyn Johannes was fined R100 000; R50 000 suspended for 24 months on condition that he is not found guilty of a similar offence.
‘Jose Ferreira was sentenced to a four-match suspension, of which two matches are suspended for a period of 24 hours on condition that during this period he is not found guilty of a similar offence.’
