Dear Orlando Pirates Fam

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks.

To the Chairman Dr Irvan Khoza thank you for the opportunity you gave me to be part of such an amazing institution.

To the Management & technical team, your dedication, expertise, and tireless efforts behind the scenes have been nothing short of remarkable.

To my fellow players, it has been an honour and a privilege to share the pitch with such a talented and passionate group of individuals. The bonds we have formed both on and off the field will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for the memories we have created together.

And last but certainly not least, to our loyal supporters, your unwavering dedication and unwavering support have been the backbone of this team. Your passion and enthusiasm have inspired us to push harder, aim higher, and never give up, and for that, I am truly thankful.

Thank you once again for everything, and know that I will always cherish the time we spent together.

Orlando Pirates have revealed that Zakhele Lepasa and Vincent Pule could be drafted to the starting lineup for their upcoming Carling Knockout Cup clash against Richards Bay.

The Buccaneers are set to travel to Moses Mabhida Stadium when they take on Richards when the two sides square off in the quarter-final of the competition.

Pirates made their way to this stage of the tournament following their 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in the opening round.

Richards, meanwhile, advanced to this stage following their 2-1 victory over Moroka Swallows in the first round.

The Sea Robbers also confirmed they will remain without the likes of Sipho Chaine, Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela, who continue to mend their way back to full fitness from their respective injuries.

“The hosts have been bolstered by the return of striker Sinethemba Mngomezulu, who is again eligible for selection after serving a two-match ban for picking up a red card in a home league defeat to Polokwane City.

“For Pirates, defenders Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela continue to recover from their respective injuries along with goalkeeper Sipho Chaine.

“Meanwhile, Zakhele Lepasa and Vincent Pule could have bigger roles on Saturday after their substitute appearances in midweek.”

Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule has reportedly started training again with the Soweto giants over the international break as he looks to return to action for the first time since October 2021.

The winger picked up and injury while with Bafana Bafana ahead of the Fifa World Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia in October last year and, while Pule was set to return to the team last month, he suffered a relapse on his quad tear.

In February, Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids revealed that they were being cautious with his return.

“He was very close to coming back but had a slight setback, so a cautious approach is now what is needed for him to pass his minimal standards in relation to his rehabilitation and, hopefully, we’ll have him back. I don’t want to put my head on the block, [but] by April or late March,” Davids told journalists last month.

However, according to reports, the 30-year-old is now back in training with his side and will undoubtedly be a huge boost as the season heads to the business end.

According to SoccerLaduma, Pule is set to make his return when Pirates take on Sekhukhune United next Wednesday.

Orlando Pirates and Raja Casablanca were forced to settle for a 1-1 in the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final first leg at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Josef Zinnbauer made five changes to his side that drew against Stellenbosch FC as Bongani Sam, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Ben Motshwari, Vincent Pule and Fortune Makaringe were all named in the starting line up.

The Buccaneers got off to a good start and showed their intent in the early exchanges of the game but failed to make the most of their chances in the final third.

Wayde Jooste nearly gave Pirates the lead in the seventh minute when his intended cross almost crept in at the near post, but Raja goalkeeper Anas Zniti was well alert to the danger.

Soufiane Rahimi had a chance to put his side ahead but Wayne Sandilands did well to collect his effort at the near post.

Pirates managed to take the lead in the 39th minute when Vincent Pule found the back of the net with a clinical finish from close range as the game went into the break 1-0 in favour of the Buccaneers.

Brahimi nearly produced a superb strike early in the second half when he spotted Sandilands off his line, but his shot was nowhere near the target.

Raja did manage to level matters on the stroke of half time through Ben Malango, who beat Nyauza before slotting his effort past Sandilands.

Pule should’ve handed his side the lead four minutes later but fired his volley towards goal but it does not possess the necessary power to trouble the keeper.

Zinnbauer then opted to bring on fresh legs in the 76th minute when Paseka Mako, Thembinkosi Lorch and Thabang Monare were introduced in place of Bongani Sam, Fortune Makaringe and Motshwari before bringing on Gabadinho Mhango and Kabelo Dlamini to replace Deon Hotto and Siphesihle Ndlovu in the 85th minute.

Pirates had a chance to put the game to bed deep into stoppage time when Mako got behind the defence, beating the keeper in the process, but knocked the ball out of his reach at the crucial moment before Raja made the clearance as the game ended locked at 1-1.

Orlando Pirates forward Vincent Pule says his side showed real character to fight back and secure maximum points against Maritzburg United this past Sunday.

Pule came off the bench to score a second-half brace to inspire his side to a 2-0 victory over the Team of Choice at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The Buccaneers have now extended their unbeaten run at home to 21 games across all competitions, with their last defeat a penalty shootout with Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup in February 2020.

The 29-year-old admits his side are ‘very confident’ when they play at home and has labelled them a ‘bunch of winners’ after returning to winning ways.

‘When you’re sitting there on the bench, you have to focus on the game and look at the spaces. Tactically it was a very difficult game, they were very good in the first half,’ Pule told the club’s media channel post-match.

‘But we have a bunch of winners and we had to come back. We showed character and scored two goals and won the game.

‘At home we are unbeaten for a long time, I think we are very confident when we’re playing here at Orlando.

‘We knew it was going to be a difficult game, they were pushing us all over, but we have a good group of guys and we have character, so we won the game.’
