Timm arrives at Babina Noko after he parted ways with fellow Betway Premiership outfit Orlando Pirates.

The Johannesburg-born midfielder joined the Buccaneers from Marumo Gallants during the 2022-23 season.

The 33-year-old has gone on to register one assist in 66 appearances across all competitions during his time at Pirates.

Timm becomes the club’s fourth signing behind Wonderboy Makhubu, Sphiwe Mahlangu and Bradley Grobler.

“Sekhukhune United FC confirms the signing of Miguel Timm, from Orlando Pirates,” Sekhukhune said in a statement.

“Miguel brings valuable experience and a positive attitude.

Grobler joins Banina Noko from SuperSport United, who sold their Premier Soccer League status to Siwelele FC.

The 37-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Platinum Stars, Gรถztepe, Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United.

He has scored 121 goals and registered 31 assists in 402 appearances across all competitions over the course of his career.

Grobler become the club’s third signing behind Wonderboy Makhubu and Sphiwe Mahlangu.

“Sekhukhune United FC confirms the signing of Bradley Grobler from SuperSport United,” Sekhukhune said in a statement.

]]> Mamelodi Sundowns played out to only their fourth draw in the DStv Premiership after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Tshwane rivals SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.

The Brazilians broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Teboho Mokoena unleashed his trademark strike from distance to beat United keeper Washington Arubi.

SuperSport did draw the game level four minutes later through Bradley Grobler after he latched on to a Lyle Lakay free-kick to find the back of the net.

The result sees Sundowns remain at the top of the league standings with 46 points from 18 games, while SuperSport are placed third with 33 points after 20 matches.

]]> Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United were forced to share the spoils in the Tshwane derby after playing out to a 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening.

The derby got off to a high tempo, with both teams looking to stamp their authority as they went in search of the opening goal.

Matรญas Esquivel should have handed Sundowns the lead in the 11th minute but fired his free-kick inches wide of the top corner.

The home side had another opportunity to take the lead eight minutes later when Teboho Mokoena unleashed a thunderous effort from distance but saw his effort fly over the upright.

Sundowns eventually took the lead on the half hour mark when Mokoena opened the scoring with a scream from distance leaving Washington Arubi with no chance of saving his effort.

SuperSport wasted no time in finding an equalising goal after finding the back of the net four minutes later through Bradley Grobler, who slotted home a Lyle Lakay free-kick.

Both sides pressed forward in the closing stages of the game, but their side could add to the scoreline as the game went into the break locked at 1-1.

Sundowns showed their intent and had two chances to restore their lead in the 46th and 48th minute through Esquivel and Lorch, but they could not penetrate the United goal.

The home team continued to push forward for the goal to put them ahead but struggled to break down the SuperSport defence after the hour mark.

Rulani Mokwena opted to bring on fresh legs in the 71st minute when he made a triple substitution by bringing on Sipho Mbule, Peter Shalulile, and Tashreeq Matthews in place of Lorch, Zwane, and Sirino.

Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt made some changes of his own when he made a double substitution by replacing Matodzi and Campbell with Gape Moralo and Thabang Mahlangu moments later.

Arubi came to his side’s rescue in the 81st minute when he came off his line to save Lunga’s looped ball into the area.

Mokwena used all of his substitutions three minutes later, as Esquivel and Lunga made way for Thapelo Morena and Junior Mendieta, while Hunt brought on Keegan Allan for Margeman.

Mbule had a chance to grab the match winner in stoppage time but fired his effort over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Neither side were able to find the winning goal as the game ended 1-1, with both sides sharing the spoils at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Head coach Gavin Hunt received the Chairmanโ€™s Award after he lead the team to a third place finish in the DStv Premiership and securing their spot in Caf competition next year.

Veteran defender Thulani Hlatshwayo walked away with the big prize of being named their Player of the Season while Grant Margeman was named Playerโ€™s Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Thapelo Maseko received the Young Player of the Year award after contributing to six goals in 20 appearances, while Bradley Grobler walked away with the Top Goal Scorer award after netting 10 goals.

]]> SuperSport United made a major statement by beating rivals Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in DStv Premiership action on Friday evening.

Despite the Brazilians handing exciting new signings Marcelo Allende and Abubaker Nasir their first starts, it was the home side who had the better start as Thapelo Maseko tapped in at the far post after Iqraam Rayners provided him with a tap-in at the end of a counter-attack to fire SSU in the lead with just nine minutes gone.

Downs looked to get back into the game immediately and carved out openings for Peter Shalulile and Nasir, but a combination of good goalkeeping/defending and wasteful finishing frustrated the defending champions heading towards the break.

It then got worse for Masadawana as, moments before half time, Gavin Huntโ€™s team doubled their lead with Bradly Grobler nodding home at the back post after another assist for Rayners.

The visitors came out with a clear intention to get back into the game but Chigova was having a stormer in the SuperSport goal as he denied Maema shortly after the interval.

Eventually Downs turned to the bench and made a triple change on the hour mark as Themba Zwane, Sipho Mbule and Bradley Ralani all came on for Mokoena, Maema and Allende.

The subs also struggled as a well-drilled SuperSport side were proving hard to break down in the second half and, despite Nasir pulling one back in stoppage time, it was too little too late as Matsatsantsa held on for victory in the Tshwane derby.

]]> Bradley Grobler walked away as the big winner at the SuperSport United annual awards for his contribution during the 2020-21 season.

Grobler snapped up a total of four awards, including the Chairman’s, Player and Player’s Player of the Season awards for his outstanding performance for United last campaign.

The Bafana Bafana striker also walked away with the Golden Boot award after he bagged 17 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions, while also finishing as the DStv Premiership top-scorer with 16 goals.

Meanwhile, SuperSport team manager Paul Matthews and club physiotherapist Bafana Sihlali both received the Coaches’ award, while Gape Moralo claimed the CEO’s award.

Promising right back Keenan Phillips was named as the Young Player of the Season after claiming three assists from 27 appearances in all competitions.
