Renowned in Europe for their distinctive orange and white striped jerseys, the Toyota Cheetahs will continue this classic look as their primary kit, paired with black shorts and vibrant red socks. The team will debut a predominantly white and orange striped jersey as an alternative kit, offering a fresh take on their traditional colours.

This year’s jersey design reflects the Cheetahs’s legacy, inspired by the team’s glorious past, including iconic moments like the 1997 Currie Cup Final against Western Province at Newlands. With Macron, Director of Rugby of the Toyota Cheetahs, Frans Steyn played a pivotal role in the creative process, working closely with the Cheetah’s marketing team. Together, they revisited the heritage of legends such as Helgard Müller, Rassie Erasmus, Dougie Heymans, Brendan Venter, Werner Swanepoel, Willie Meyer, Jannie de Beer, Andre Venter and Os du Randt to create a look that resonates with both nostalgia and innovation.

“From the moment we started conceptualising this design, we wanted to capture what makes the Toyota Cheetahs unique,” said Tiaan Joubert, Business Unit Manager, Macron. “This jersey represents not only the past glory but the bright future of this young, dynamic group of players. It symbolises pride for every fan, from Bloemfontein to the far reaches of Europe.”

The Toyota Cheetahs’ EPCR Challenge Cup campaign kicks off on Sunday, 8 December, with a home match against USAP at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. A week later, the team travels to Wales to face Cardiff on Saturday, 14 December, at Cardiff Arms Park. After the festive season, the Toyota Cheetahs return to Amsterdam to host Zebre Parma on Sunday, 12 January, before concluding the pool stage against Lyon in France on Sunday, 19 January.

Porsche European Open (DP World Tour)

Brandon Stone finished tied fifth on two under par, four shots behind the winner, Finland’s Kalle Samooja. Compleat Golfer‘s playing editor carded 76, 68, 73 and 69 at Green Eagle Golf Courses for his best finish of the season so far.

Justin Walters, the best placed of the South Africans going into the final round, had to settle for a share of 16th after a final-round 74 left him on even par. Thriston Lawrence‘s final-round 69 had him finishing T18 on one over.

Wilco Nienaber, Darren Fichardt and Richardt Sterne shared 40th on five over, with Zander Lombard T59 on eight over.

D+D REAL Czech Challenge (European Challenge Tour)

Tristen Strydom made a solid start to his Challenge Tour campaign finishing on six under for a share of 15th. He carded 69, 69, 67 and 69 to end eight shots behind Denmark’s Nicolai Kristensen and France’s Ugo Coussaud, with the former winning the playoff.

Deon Germishuys shot three under for the week for a share of 34th and Keenan Davidse one over (T53).

Behind them were Ruan Conradie (T66), Jacques Blaauw and Luke Jerling (T92) and Jayden Schaper (T108).

Memorial Tournament (PGA Tour)

After making his first PGA Tour cut since February, Garrick Higgo went on to finish T18 on two under (75, 71, 70, 70) at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. That was 11 shots behind runaway winner, American Billy Horschel.

Erik van Rooyen missed the cut.

Principal Charity Classic (PGA Tour Champions)

In Des Moines, Iowa, Ernie Els shared 18th on nine under –nine shots behind Americans Jerry Kelly and Kirk Triplett. Kelly went on to win the playoff.

David Frost was down in T75 on six over.

Rex Hospitals Open (Korn Ferry Tour)

MJ Daffue‘s six under was only good enough for a share of 37th. American Davis Thompson (17 under) won the tournament.

International Series England (Asian Tour)

Justin Harding finished on eight under for the tournament at Spa & Golf Resort, Hexham, four shots behind Zimbabwean winner Scott Vincent.

Ian Snyman and Neil Schietekat ended up on four under in a share of ninth and Jaco Ahlers on even par (T25).

Bryce Easton finished 49th and Keith Horne 62nd.

Ladies Italian Open (Ladies European Tour)

Casandra Alexander narrowly missed a birdie putt on the last hole and a spot in the playoff by one stroke after finishing on nine under (71, 67, 69). Italian amateur Alessandra Fanali, England’s Megan MacLaren and Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux contested the playoff, which was won by Metreaux.

Lee-Anne Pace ended sixth on eight under and Stacy Lee Bregman T25 on level par.

A few years back, we had the first taste of separate Tours coming together to create an alliance. That was when the European Tour and Asian Tour formed a partnership where both Tours would benefit. This may have been the first time something like that had happened, but it would be the first of many.

While this partnership worked, and worked well for both Tours, there was always a sense that it was a last-ditch
effort to try to compete with the PGA Tour in the US. Which, of course, is no small task.

The PGA Tour is the benchmark. It’s the Boss. Plain and simple. The American golfing market controls the world. The reason prize funds are what they are is because of the broadcast fees from the US. The PGA Tour is fully aware of its power, and has always used it to benefit it and its members.

That is why the PGA Tour has long considered a strategy where it becomes a world Tour. It purchased mini-Tours in China, Canada and Latin America and was looking further afield. So, when the European Tour partnered with the Asian Tour, there was definitely a sense of disruption to their plan.

Then, with the ink barely dried on the PGA Tour’s new multi-year broadcast deal, Covid-19 hit. The PGA Tour was able to ride out the storm, keeping prize money high and the TV deals in place.

In Europe it was different. Because the European Tour had to deal with so many different governments, it made tournaments almost impossible to put together. This weakened the European Tour’s grip on the golfing markets. It needed something.

That something happened in 2020. The PGA and European Tours finally decided to start working together. The PGA Tour bought a share in the European Tour’s media rights, with the intention of working with the folks in Europe instead of competing against them.

I think this is the best thing to happen to professional golf. Having all the professional bodies around the world working together to create the best tournaments, with the best players competing on the best courses, just makes sense.

As a result of this partnership, the 2022 Scottish Open will be an official PGA Tour event. This marks the first major step of this newfound friendship. There will also be spots in PGA Tour events for members of the European Tour, giving them the opportunity to show their game in the
land of Stars and Stripes.

Overall, this new partnership is going to grow the game of golf to a new extreme. Golf fans will be spoiled on a weekly basis with the best golfers playing at the biggest events. After all, that’s all us golf nuts want – to watch some really good golf.

Frittelli went into the week needing a top 10 finish to ensure his stellar year ending with the bonus of a place in April’s first Major at Augusta. The 27-year-old South African took up the late option to play in Jakarta after a T42 finish at the rain-hit Joburg Open.

His week got off to a disastrous start – and ultimately cost him his prize – after bogey on the first was followed by a triple bogey on the par 3 fourth hole. Frittelli signed for an opening 76 before starting his fightback. Rounds of 67 and 69 followed as not only made the cut but moved up the leaderboard.

Sunday’s final round 67, an identical effort to Friday where he hit 12 fairways, 16 GIRS and 29 putts, helped him finish 20th only four shots back of his desired mark.

Frittelli, who booked top five finishes at the Turkish Airlines Open and DP World Tour Championship before winning his second European Tour event of the season at the AfrAsia Mauritius Bank Open, saw a now familiar rival Justin Rose claim a wire to wire win in Indonesia.

Rose opened the week with a 62 and never looked back as he cruised to the title on the back of an opening 29 on Sunday stamped with an eagle on the ninth. The Englishman will continue his rise up the world rankings after the win which was marred ever so slightly with his one and only bogey coming on the 16th as he wiped the floor with rivals.

Rose finished with a tap-in birdie on the last to match Friday’s 62 to claim a n eight shot win over rising Asian star Phachara Khongwatmai (Thailand).

Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent sank a lengthy birdie putt on the last as he fired a final round three under par 69 to finish third al0ne with the penultimate putt of the event going to Kiradech Aphibarnrat. The likable Thai finished with an eagle to claim a share of 5th and a place at The Masters – a feat made even more remarkable considering he played Sunday with a back niggle.

The world number six took advantage of the benign early conditions to power his way to the top at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club. Rose opened with a birdie on his opening par-four 10. He then issued his statement of intent by heading towards the turn with four birdies in five holes for an outward 31.

The Olympic Gold medalist continued to impress by firing another five birdies on holes two, three, four, six and nine for a 62, which could have been a course record if not for the preferred lie ruling, which was in force.

‘That is a dream start to be honest with you. I birdied the first hole. I felt comfortable from the outset. I did all the right things today I suppose, I put the ball in play from the tee.

‘Obviously with ball in hand and placing the ball on the fairway, you had a perfect lie for every shot providing you put the ball in the fairway. So that is what I did well and was able to take advantage.’

‘This course, the way it is today, it is there for the taking. Obviously there was no wind, it was perfect golf conditions,’ said Rose.

South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli could not match Rose’s early excellence as he struggled to an opening 76. Needing to finish in the top 10 to secure a place in the top 50, and with it a place at The Masters, the two-time European Tour winner opened with a bogey before a triple on the par 3 fourth saw him fall rapidly down the leaderboard.

Another bogey followed on the fifth before a mini-revival around the turn saw him gain two shots back. A bogey on the 16th was erased with a closing bogey but, barring a second-round miracle, he will not be ending his brilliant year with a place at Augusta.
