Kaizer Chiefs have become favourites to win the Absa Premiership title but Lebogang Manyama insists there is still a long way to go until the end of the season.
The Glamour Boys recently extended their winning run to six games in the league after their 3-2 victory over rivals Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium.
Ernst Middendorp’s side have also moved 10 points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the league standings, with 28 points after 11 games played.
‘You can’t win a league that starts in August and ends in May and try to win it in November. You have to play every game as it comes,’ Manyama told the media.
‘It’s about taking it one day at a time, one training session at a time and trying to improve from the previous game, then you’ll be headed in the right direction as a team, and not as an individual – most importantly.
‘I think it’s helped us a lot that everybody has chipped in with their contributions, because I believe to win things it takes a squad and not only the 11 players who’ve played the most games.
‘So, the results are starting show but there’s still a long way to go and the most important game is always the next one.’
