Cape Town City new signing Mpho Makola thinks his new club is heading in the right direction and that they want to go far this season.
It was announced on Tuesday that Makola had signed a two-year deal with the Citizens after he was released by former club Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the month.
The 33-year-old enjoyed a seven-year stay at the Soweto giants and will be looking to impart his experience to a young and vibrant City squad, who lost the services of veteran Teko Modise to retirement at the end of last season.

Speaking about his arrival in Cape Town, the midfielder said: ‘I think the club has been growing in leaps and bounds; I think it’s a great team and they are headed in the right direction.
‘It feels like home already. I think it’s a brand on its own – even in Joburg. You know, I’m from Alex [Alexandra township] and people there usually support Chiefs or Pirates, but in the past year or so, I’ve seen Cape Town City T-shirts.
‘So, it just shows that the club is actually going somewhere, and people are actually taking notice of their good work.’
The midfielder also commented on the atmosphere at the club heading into the new season.

‘It’s a great atmosphere, they’re very welcoming. I just like the vibe there, I mean, everybody speaks to everybody.
‘It’s a family-oriented space but you can tell that they really want to go far this season.’
City coach Benni McCarthy also expressed his excitement around his new arrival in a post on social media.
‘I’m super happy and excited for the signing of Bibo, I have to thank my Chairman JC for this one – my Big Fish,’ McCarthy said on social media.
