Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye claims that the Absa Premiership has been lacking a player with the attributes Joseph Molangoane has shown at Amakhosi this season.
The 29-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Amakhosi squad during his first season with the club, having already scored four goals and assisted a further two from 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Khanye admits that he has been impressed by Joseph Molangoane’s impact at the club, but would like to see him get on the scoresheet more often.
‘Tight is a good player. He is a very speedy winger. He is a player that can make things happen with his skill. Honestly speaking, I would like to see him score more goals,’ Khanye told Goal.com.
The Glamour Boys currently sit fourth in the Absa Premiership standings with 40 points and have won 10 of their 25 matches played so far this season, trailing league leaders Cape Town City by nine points.
The former Amakhosi winger went on to praise Molangoane and he believes the Absa Premiership has been lacking a player of his ability.
‘In modern football, you see wingers scoring goals. But he can make things happen for Chiefs because he is a player that can take on defenders and create chances for other players,’ he added.
‘That’s a player they lacked in recent seasons, but I would like to see him take more responsibility. He is Chiefs’ best signing in recent times.
‘Truly speaking Chiefs and Orlando Pirates need more players who can make things happen for the team when the chips are down. These are players you cannot restrict when they are playing, because they know how to play in front of big crowds.’
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at the Mbombela Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
