Just months after guiding Free State Stars to glory in the Nedbank Cup, Luc Eymael has left the club by ‘mutual consent’.
The Belgian coach may have lead Ea Lla Koto to their first ever trophy in the Nedbank Cup last season, but after an indifferent start to the season he has joined the list of coaching casualties in the PSL.
The decision came just two days after Stars lost 1-0 at home to SuperSport United, a result which left the club ninth on the log table with 13 points from 14 matches, having lost seven games, drawn four and won only three of their league games this season.
In a statement released by the club, Stars conceded that the run of poor results was behind the decision.
‘We want to take this opportunity to thank the coach for the success that he has brought to the club and for his effort in the current season.
‘We would also like to wish the coach the best of luck with his future endeavours‚’ said Stars’ general manager Rantsie Mokoena in the statement on Monday.
‘We will use the two weeks break to look for a suitable replacement for the coach and will make the necessary announcement as and when things unfold,’ Mokoena concluded.
