There will be good news for the Springbok Sevens squad when they assemble at their base in Stellenbosch on Wednesday for their final camp in the build-up to the Olympic Games qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe next month, but also some bad news for team and country.

Van Niekerk fades as Olympic hopes disappear

Just as well that there were no spectators in the Tokyo Stadium when Wayde van Niekerk ran in his 400m semi-final. Because the experience was painful enough and the Olympic champion and world record holder didn’t need a capacity 50 000 people watching him crash out of the Games in the manner that he did. (more…)
