Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho feels that Ashley Young’s positivity needs to act as an example as his side aim to bounce back from three successive defeats.
The Red Devils suffered their third consecutive defeat against, losing 3-1 when they traveled to Vicarage Road on Sunday.
Just as the manager was not getting carried away after the fine start to the campaign, he was refusing to be too down after the 3-1 reverse at Watford.
Mourinho says he refuses to let his side’s defeat against the Hornets let him down and also insisted that there is only one way to turn around their recent former.
‘I have this capacity of balance,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.
‘Balance is, for me, not running around the pitch when we were winning a couple of matches and nobody sees now me being too depressed. I’m sad. Obviously, I’m sad but, as I was telling the players, there is only one way.’
The Portuguese mentor says the team should start following in Young’s footsteps, declaring that the midfielder has shown positivity and determination on the field.
‘At 10:30 in the morning, we have a training session and we have to be there. They have to work, they have to show themselves with a certain kind of attitude towards negative moments,’ he added.
‘I show them, as an example, Ashley Young who was, in my opinion, phenomenal with his attitude, positivity, and determination.
‘We need positive people to give us a positive feeling because, next time these boys are going onto a football pitch, they are going to feel, obviously as normal human beings, the weight of the defeats.’
Manchester United will now turn their attention to the League Cup when they travel to Sixfields Stadium to face Northampton Town on Tuesday.
The match is scheduled for 20:45.
