The Cottagers began the second-half strongly and soon drew level following an unfortunate own goal by Julien de Sart. Finally, Accrington Stanely and Burnley could not be separated in their tie as the game remained goalless at full time. It was the minnows who eventually edged out their Premier League opposition in extra time as Matty Pearson grabbed a last-ditch winner.
