Amaglug-glug were thrashed 4-1 by Asian U23 champions Japan during in the Kirin Challenge Cup at General Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The South African U23 side failed with their chance to open the scoring when Menzi Masuku was bullied off the ball in the 24th minute in the box.
Orlando Pirates midfielder Gift Motupa opened the scoring for Amaglug-glug after slotting home a penalty just two minutes later after Japanese were adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.
The hosts responded in fine style with three goals in the space of 15 minutes to completely blow the wind out of coach Owen Da Gama’s side’s fight.
A communication error in the Amaglug-glug defence came shortly after the half time interval which ended the match as a contest.
With three minutes to play, substitute goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumede was forced into making a great save to keep the score at 4-1.
