Chelsea have confirmed that left back Baba Rahman has joined Schalke on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old will now return to the Bundesliga after signing for the Blues last season from German side Augsburg.
Rahman failed to secure a first-team place at Stamford Bridge last season and has been allowed to join the Gelsenkirchen club on loan.
Last season he made 23 appearances, 19 of them starts, with his debut also his first career game in the Champions League, a 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv, reports the Chelsea website.
The Ghanian left back will reunite with his former Augsburg manager Markus Weinzierl who took charge of Schalke earlier this summer.
