National First Division side Cape Town All Stars have appointed former Kaizer Chiefs defender Patrick Mabedi as the club’s new head coach.
Greg Etafia has been appointed as the club is a new goalkeeper coach and has worked alongside Mabedi as part of the Moroka Swallows technical bench, according to the PSL website.
All Stars general manager Faeez Dulvie insists that the club had many candidates to take up the positions but opted to appoint the former Mpumalanga Black Aces assistant coach, while Dylan Deane will continue as the assistant coach.
‘The club considered several options for the vacant head coach position but decided Patrick Mabedi was the best fit for Cape Town All Stars,’ Dulvie said.
‘Patrick is an ambitious young coach who is highly qualified, having done his Uefa A and B Licenses in Germany. We expect him to bring renewed energy and enthusiasm to the team as we look to turn around a poor start to the campaign.
‘Greg Etafia has a huge amount of experience as a goalkeeper in the PSL and like Patrick is a young coach keen to make an impact on the game. We are confident they will make a positive impact on the team and welcome them to the club.’
The pair will join the team on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s NFD clash with Santos at Parow Park.
